We are delighted to be working together with BBC Radio Surrey on a new monthly feature – the Sunday Listening Club in which festival manager Isabel Dawson and presenter Emily Jeffery will be exploring music’s potential to lift the spirits and enticing listeners who might be new to classical repertoire to give some of our themed listening ideas a try along the way!
Click here to listen to the first installment BBC Radio Surrey – Breakfast on BBC Radio Surrey, Emily Jeffery 28/02/2021 – the feature starts at around 3’17” – and includes excerpts from Vivaldi’s Four Seasons alongside two vividly contrasting reinventions of the same work, Astor Piazzolla’s tango-infused ‘Primavera Portena’ and Max Richter’s shimmeringly beautiful ‘Spring I’.
As well as these three works, our suggested Spring listening includes the works featured in the Spotify playlist here – do get in touch via firstname.lastname@example.org if we’ve missed out your own personal favourite – BBC listeners have already called in to add some of theirs, and we’d love to have ideas from our Festival audience as well!
Happy listening, and do look out for the next installment Breakdown Barriers on Sunday 21 March at around 9.15am which will feature the following Spotify playlist here.
